Work and Play

We have done A LOT of work on our house the past few days. Brad has successfully torn out the entire kitchen (including a wall) and I have taken down all the grass cloth and wallpaper in the kitchen and family room. While we have been doing all of that, my mom has helped us at the house and has kept Kate safe and busy. We would never have been able to accomplish what we have in such a short time if DeDe hadn't come to help us with Kate. We are very grateful! The electricians and painters began their work today and will be finished early next week...yay!!

Our schedule this past week has been something like this: Wake up, get ready, go to house to work, have lunch, work at house, go to apt for dinner, and then back to the house to work until around 10. I can't say enough how thrilled we are that the contractors will be at the house from Thursday on...preventing us from doing much around there. SOOOO...having nothing (in particular) to do and some very special visitors (Brock and Laurie) made Thursday a GREAT day!!

We got up and played and played in the morning and got ready for Brock and Laurie to come and a trip to the zoo. My mom went to the house and painted the ENTIRE inside of Kate's closet...including walls, shelves, and built-in dresser thing. What a BIG job!! When Brad and I finish painting her room tonight, it will be complete and once the kitchen and family room are finished and the fumes have dissapated, we can move in. Hallelujah!! Anyway, back to our day....

During bathtime, my mom and I had fun watching and video-ing our crazy Kate. She loves (almost) nothing more than looking at "the baby" in the mirror. She talks, laughs, and sometimes cries with herself and doesn't even know it's just her....too cute!! She hardly sits still long enough to get her diaper changed and the first video shows what she usually does during diaper changes...after I wrestler her to get her diaper off and on again. She usually doesn't have the towel on though...she had just gotten out of the bath.

Kate is "brushing" her hair. When we brush her hair, we tell her "brush hair" so I guess she caught on to what we were saying and was trying to do it herself. Such a smarty pants!! Sorry for the shakey filming...I was making sure she didn't fall off.

After our fun morning, Brock and Laurie arrived! We got to visit, play and feed the kiddos together at our place. B and K had so much fun playing together...they were ADORABLE!! I think Brock is about to take off crawling any day now. We had fun watching him show Kate his "moves"...it was so funny, it was like he was showing her all he has learned in his quest to crawl. He was up on all fours and rocking and bouncing...yay Brock!! Later in the afternoon, we all loaded up and headed to the zoo. It was so wonderful to get outside, walk around, and chat with Laurie on such a beautiful day. We are looking forward to visiting them in their town next week...yay!!

The kids watching Mr. Bear. The bears and monkeys were VERY much in the mood to perform. They walked right in front of the glass several times and gave us all quite a show.

I can't wait to post pictures of the progress at the house but I keep forgetting to take a camera over. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! I am back at the grind today: making calls, meeting with cabinet guy, and squaring away paint. Yesterday was a nice break and I'm ready to go today!!
